Over all Best

place to try!

Crankbaits

Shallow and medium runners in chartreuses and shad colors some blue is ok too!

Light line different speed retrieves including very fast.10 - 12lbs. line 6-12 Running just over grass as you would with a lipless model. Rip-raps as well. Run the deeper models through grass free points. - - - Points leading into shallow pockets where shad schools are found. Points with and without grass are all targets.
Spinnerbaits All White and silver blades Slow Retrieve. Tip that grass now! 4-12

Fish over grass off into open water.

- - - Outer edges of grass flats, look for grass that is still too deep to see.
Carolina Rig Black, June Bug and Pumpkin. Lizards, worms or centipedes, your choice Feel everything, the bites will be soft 6-14 Make less casts and fish slower. If fishing grass allow the bait to move several yards once you bring it out of the grass. Bass will be following. - - - Primary points and drops leading into pockets, coves and creeks. Irregular features along old river channel.
Rat-L-Traps

Gold, Chrome and Chartreuse

1/4 - 1/2 oz.

Good Hooks, tender sweeping hook sets. 4-8 Fish over grass as well as open water. - -  - Anywhere water is 12 foot or less.
Soft Jerkbaits Bubble Gum, White or Shad Colors Light line and good hooks 2-6 Make sure lure is running within 3 feet of the bottom or the grass - - - Anywhere water is 10 foot or less.
Jigs

Black/Black or Brown and maybe some red mixed in. 3/8 or 1/2 oz.

Need Pumpkin and green pumpkin now too.

Try even smaller baits like 1/4 oz 6-12 Works great on grass edges but docks and stumps are targets as well. - - - Main lake points and any cover you find.

Texas Rigs

4 " Black, June Bug and Green Pumpkin. Swim a 6 - 10 inch worm as well as flip or pitch any grass you can see Set hook twice with short bursts. 1-15 A must try bait right now!!!! - - - Grass points for casting or swimming and grass lines pitching and flipping
Tubes Dark Colors, Texas Style.3/16

Short hops.

Light Line.

4-8 Beds are being found in many areas. - - - Flip the grass edges.
- Top Water Action?
Buzzbaits Buzzbaits are really great lure for a big fish lake like Guntersville. White/Chartreuse seam to be the best color most of the time. Nice squeak or clatter never hurts. However, always try the more quiet baits as well. Always try two sizes and colors. Change retrieve speed when the bites are slow. Works best over grass you can see. Cover lots of water and make passes though productive areas several times, even if the last pass was not productive. - - - Know if the water is considered low or high by asking around. If you hear normal pool, this is high in my book.
Popping Lures

Awesome baits around matted grass, sea walls and boat docks. Not to mention a lot of fun to fish.

Shad colors with some blue and orange.

Making the perfect sounding pop maybe just what you needed to do. Water under 5 feet is best, but the grass will  make many deeper areas fit this description - - - Sea walls. "GRASS MAT LINE" also great in clearer water
Rats\Frogs The frog bite is doing well in shallow back water types of places. Look for matted grass, black and green slim mats as well. Under 5 feet Heavy line and rod are a must even in fairly grass free water. This is because the big one will always hit in the thickest grass. It is a luck thing I think. - - - Only try in back water grass, Target the river channel only in you find milfoil and that water level is low.
