As summer moves upon us we do not want to put the lipless baits away. These lures are very important searching tools. They are best when fished over grass flats that are well under the surface. As the grass grows up and even becomes matted there will always be deeper grass that many anglers may overlook. It is a mistake to not be tossing these lures around especial during times when we are struggling to get bit. These baits are also great during the warmer months when fished deeper in a stop, sink, wind fast and sink again fashion. Yo-Yo-ing.
These two maps show places to find the deeper grass. As the grass grows the deepest grass just becomes the next ideal place. I know many of you may argue this, but I feel that the chrome blue is the most productive summer color there has ever been. I catch fish on many colors this time of year but the chrome blue has brought me more big bass, and we do like. |
