Pop "R" and Chug Bug type baits are good lures to try on Guntersville. They are ideal for landing right next to mats of grass, sea walls, stumps, and docks. They are also ideal for casting to the very calm back water areas. I prefer blue/shad or chartreuse baits. In most cases these lures work better on 12 – 14 pound line and medium action rod.

A great pattern to try is casting to the edges of the thicker grass. Pop 4 or 5 times and repeat. You will be fishing more as one might fish a fly rod. Making many short cast to cover a long weed line.
